Making Ramadan Extra Meaningful For Pertubuhan Badan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Darussalam
Orphans and single mothers of Pertubuhan Badan Kebajikan Anak-anak Yatim Darussalam (in Kg. Melayu, Sg. Rapat, Ipoh) were feted to a scrumptious breaking of fast buffet dinner at Hotel Excelsior Ipoh recently.
It was the hotel’s third consecutive year to celebrate Ramadan with the less fortunate in the community. This time, their effort was also contributed by Persatuan Pegawai Kanan Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh (PADUAN), Kelab Sukan & Kebajikan Media Perak (KSKMP), Yayasan Abu Bakar and Pasaraya Econsave.
It had been a busy day for the children, with the youngest at 1 year 5 months old only. Earlier, they were taken to Pasaraya Econsave in Jelapang for shopping, complimentary of the hypermarket! It was a pleasure to see how happy they were selecting clothes and shoes for Hari Raya.
For the kids, the New Year is an extra joyous occasion when clad in new apparel and shoes. No one is excluded in the Hari Raya celebration.
During the dinner, President of Kelab Sukan & Kebajikan Media Perak Wan Asrudi Wan Hasan, on behalf of the media club, presented a cash token to Pertubuhan Badan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Darussalam to help ease the home’s financial burden.
As we enjoyed the generous buffet spread, which is the hotel’s Ramadan buffet fare, some of the children performed a couple of nasyid songs to entertain us.
Then it was time to present the children with goodie bags of sponsored gifts as well as the clothes and shoes that they had chosen earlier. I was happy for them seeing how brightly they smiled from the heart.
The assistance of media representatives who provided coverage for this Corporate Social Responsibility event was shown appreciation too, thanks to Hotel Excelsior Ipoh, who sponsored hotel vouchers for F&B and room stays. Although my star was not bright enough to win a prize in the lucky draw, I am still grateful for the hotel’s sponsorship. Thanks!
