Ipoh City Council (MBI) Bags Two Categories in E-Waste Competition
Held in conjunction With Perak state-level National Environment Day 2022, the two categories are:
1. Local Authority with the Most Electrical and Electronic Waste (E-Waste).
2. Programme Organiser with the Largest Number of E-Waste Collections.
Two Ipoh schools also won in their respective categories:
1. SMK Raja Perempuan is champion for the biggest e-waste collection among secondary schools.
2. SK Rapat Setia is the runner-up for the largest e-waste collected for primary schools.
The e-waste collection challenge organised in conjunction with National Environment Day 2022 was an activity expected to improve the service performance organically, and to achieve the target of Ipoh as the cleanest city by 2023, making it a sustainable and liveable city.
The celebration of Perak state-level National Environment Day 2022 took place over the weekend on 29th and 30th October at AEON Midtown Falim. It was launched by YB. Mohd Akmal bin Haji Kamarudin, Perak Health, Science, Environment and Green Technology committee chairman, who represented YAB Menteri Besar Perak Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad.
Also present were Ipoh City Mayor Y.Bhg. Dato’ Rumaizi bin Baharin@Md Daud along with Tuan Haji Rosli bin Zul, State Director of the Department of Environment Perak.
As the host for this year’s celebration, MBI provided full cooperation to the Department of Environment. As many as 33 different activities involving the preservation and conservation of the environment were implemented by MBI since the launch of World Earth Day and ‘soft launch’ of Perak state-level National Environment Day 2022 on 22nd April, 2022 at Taman D.R. Seenivasagam (DR Park).
