Celebrating Excellence: Ipoh City Council Honours Its Outstanding Team

The Ipoh City Council (MBI) hosted its Excellence and Proficiency Awards Ceremony 2024 at the Casuarina Convention Centre on 15th May 2025.

The event celebrated the tireless efforts of council staff, whose dedication has shaped the everyday lives of Ipoh residents.

It was an afternoon dedicated to recognising those who went above and beyond in their roles, proof that behind every smooth-running city are passionate individuals who give their all, often behind the scenes.

Standing Ovation for 176 Exemplary Staff

176 deserving awardees (121 men and 55 women) were honoured with the Excellence Service Award. Each awardee received RM1,000 in the form of a Bank Simpanan Nasional Premium Savings Certificate, along with a certificate of appreciation and a thoughtful memento.

Their efforts, whether seen or unseen, were what kept city services running efficiently. The recognition is a reminder that excellence matters.

Saluting Skill and Professionalism

In addition, 60 council members received the Proficiency Award, which celebrates technical skill, professionalism, and a consistent standard of quality in service.

Each recipient was awarded RM400 in savings certificate, plus a certificate of appreciation.

Guests of Honour and a Warm Ceremony

Gracing the ceremony was YB Sandrea Ng Shy Ching, Chairperson of the Perak State Housing and Local Government Committee, who presented the awards to the proud recipients.

Also present were Ipoh City Council Secretary Tuan Ahmad Munir bin Ishak (representing the Mayor of Ipoh), Y.Bhg. Dato’ Haji Mazlan bin Abd. Rahman, Tuan Wong Kar Keat (Head of WHIP MBI Council Member), senior council members, and department heads.

Looking Ahead with Purpose

MBI extended heartfelt congratulations to all award recipients, thanking them for their dedication to public service.

The council hopes this moment of recognition becomes a springboard for even greater achievements in 2025. With teamwork, integrity, and a continued focus on service, MBI is well on its way to building a better Ipoh, together with the people who make it possible.
