I visited the website of the Perak State Public Library just now to read up on it to write this post and am quite disappointed that they only have it in Bahasa Malaysia. Also, it has been quite a few months since it was updated; the Origami Workshop wasn’t even in its list of library activities.

What surprised me is that library membership is only RM4 per person (for Malaysians) per year. Members can borrow up to four books at one time for up to two weeks. I didn’t really check what sort of books are available but the library looked well-stocked to me. However, I noted a lot of school text books from my era, and it has been years ago since I left school. Are students now still using them? Are these textbooks still relevant?

I was confused to see a notice that free Wifi is available at the library but I tried to scan for it on my mobile phone and couldn’t detect the access point. I later noticed there is a corner for people to use the computer and internet service is RM1.00 an hour (if I remember correctly). Is the “free” Wifi only available to library members and does one need a password to log in? Paying RM4 a year for a year’s use of free internet service is certainly not a bad deal. LOL
