MBI and A2Z Charity Organisation Unite in a Bold New Chapter for Tasek Store Site
A collaborative vision is taking shape as the Ipoh City Council (MBI) and A2Z Charity Organisation join hands to breathe new life into the historic Tasek Store site.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), signed today on 19th November 2024 at Dewan Azlan, Ipoh City Council Building, heralds a shared ambition to restore this cherished landmark and transform it into a lively centre for creativity and commerce.
This agreement was formalised via a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between Ipoh City Mayor Y.Bhg. Dato’ Rumaizi bin Baharin@Md Daud and Miss Lai Kam Sims, President of A2Z Charity Organisation.
The ceremony was witnessed by notable figures, including Y.Bhg. Dato’ Haji Mazlan bin Abd. Rahman, Head of WHIP MBI Council Member as well as A2Z Charity Organisation Founder Mr. Jeff Lai and Honourary Adviser Y.Bhg. Datuk Eric Chong. Head of WHIP MBI Council Member Cllr. Tuan Wong Kar Keat, Council Secretary Tuan Haji Ahmad Munir bin Ishak, senior city officials and councillors were also present to mark this significant occasion.
Revitalising an Iconic Site
Tasek Store, a semi-permanent two-storey structure covering 460.05 square metres, occupies a 6,770-square-metre plot on Lot PT 285773 owned by MBI within the vibrant Tasek Industrial Area in Ipoh. Once a bustling hub, the building is now poised for a remarkable transformation.
The redevelopment project, led by A2Z Charity Organisation, aims to incorporate elements of art, culture, fashion, music, food, and film into the site’s design and activities. This fusion of tradition and modernity seeks to create a space that appeals to locals and visitors alike while honouring the building’s heritage.
