The country’s first and biggest tethered balloon ride is offered at Skyrides Festivals Park in Putrajaya.
Hovering some 120 metres above ground in the balloon while beholding the panoramic view of Putrajaya is an experience to cherish.
The helium gas-powered balloon made from aircraft material is imported from the United Kingdom and meets all safety standards imposed by the Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia.
This tethered balloon ride, also popular in the United States, United Kingdom and even India, is wheelchair-friendly and is suitable for all ages, except those with anxiety disorders.
This one at Skyrides Festivals Park is also the first such balloon in the world on water.
The excitement level of this balloon ride very much depends on the wind condition. It there is no wind at all, it is like taking an open-air elevator.
A bit of wind is good as it sways the balloon. On the other hand, if the wind is too strong (above 26 knots), the balloon is lowered immediately to avoid any untoward incident.
The average number of people per ride is 18 but it also depends on the wind. Stronger wind means fewer people can ride on the balloon.
The balloon ride has no fixed schedule as it is on-demand. On peak days, it flies up to 30 times. Each ride takes about 15 minutes only. If the weather is unfavourable, the management would refund the fare.
Fare for the balloon ride is: Adult: USD17 / RM68 and Child (2 – 12 years old): USD15 / RM60.
