This event was slated to begin at 2pm but it actually only began after the arrival of the VVIPs at about 4.30pm. I would say the entertainment before 4.30pm was just a warm-up. Besides performances by K-box singers, there were also lion and dragon dances, walkabout by stilt walkers, clowns and Gods of Prosperity. Stage games were conducted to get us into the mood with prizes sponsored by DiGi. Well, I wouldn’t play unless there were free iPhones or free tablets! Hhmmpphhh!

HRH Sultan of Perak kicked off the event as soon as speeches by Y.B. Dato’ Dr. Mah Hang Soon, the Chairman of the organising committee and YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir, the Perak Menteri Besar were made. I thought that it was quite creative that a bunny came out of a gold bullion. The bunny then, accompanied by two Gods of Prosperity, walked over to present Tuanku with a piece of “bunny art”. Well, that’s what it looked like from a distance.

The event proper started with a 24-drum performance by Shen Jai High School, followed by dance performances: 1Malaysia dance, Malay traditional dance, Chinese dance and Indian dance. And then there was a dance performance by this group who call themselves International Nature Loving Association.
