Majlis Sambutan Tahun Baru Cina 2011 (Perak Celebrates CNY)

Joanne Lai, a TVB talent show winner, took to the stage again with a ribbon and a hula hoop singing and dancing performance. She entertained us earlier with a fan dance performance dressed in traditional Chinese costume. These performances were followed by a Chinese face mask changing / costume changing performance by award-winning magician Jorinn Chee Ka Yee and her magician partner, Gelvinn Chee.

Gary Chaw (曹格) then came on, singing two Chinese numbers and his improvisation of My Way. Gary Chaw is a very popular Malaysian singer based in Taiwan and he has a huge fan base even in Ipoh. Although I did not understand a word he said that wasn’t in English, I did recognise his star quality, so of course my camera clicked non-stop. I have a lot of Gary Chaw photos to share with you and because this post is too long as it is already, I am going to post 曹格 photos separately, so stay tuned!
