A Magical December at WEIL Hotel: A Grand Christmas Tree Illumination and a Season of Festive Feasting

There is a noticeable shift in the air at WEIL Hotel. The lobby has gradually evolved into a world touched by wonder, and this year the transformation is particularly breathtaking. Guests are greeted by the soft glow of twinkling lights, delicate seasonal ornaments, and the dreamlike ambience of an Aurora Winter Wonderland. Every section radiates warmth and quiet enchantment, creating an atmosphere that invites visitors to pause, breathe, and immerse themselves in the beauty of the season.

The centrepiece of this Yuletide is an extraordinary fifteen-foot Christmas tree. Its beauty, however, lies not only in its grandeur but also in the thoughtfulness behind its creation. Instead of relying on new decorations, the Housekeeping Associates at WEIL Hotel had spent countless hours transforming retired bed linens into exquisite floral petals. These handcrafted pieces, with their soft shimmer and subtle textures, give the tree a gentle elegance and a story worth sharing.

The engineering and audiovisual teams added their own artistry to the creation. They designed a lighting arrangement that shifted between gentle glimmers and radiant flourishes, making the tree resemble a scene from a winter fantasy. The result is a magnificent piece that embodies ingenuity, collaboration, and a mindful approach towards sustainability. The tree is a symbol of what can be achieved when creativity is combined with a desire to give new life to familiar materials.

A Celebration of Community and Connection

This year’s tree lighting ceremony on 5th December brought together people from all walks of life. Present at the event were the Chairman of WEIL Hotel, Dato’ Liew Siew Yee, and members of his family, along with guests, media representatives, and members of the community. Among them were children and families from Ray of Hope and Pusat Jagaan Praise Ipoh, who were welcomed with great warmth.

The air soon filled with the soothing voices of Kingdomcity Ipoh, whose Christmas carols resonated the lobby in music that felt both comforting and uplifting. The children were later presented with Hope Bags, thoughtfully filled with items meant to share joy during the season. There was a genuine sense of togetherness in that moment, as smiles and laughter flowed effortlessly across the room.

Then came an unexpected highlight. WEIL Associates suddenly gathered for a spirited flash mob to the iconic tune of Bohemian Rhapsody, led by keyboardist Ben Aiman. The performance transformed the lobby into a stage of delightful surprise, drawing cheers and applause from everyone present. It was one of those rare moments where spontaneity met celebration in the most memorable way.

A Remarkable Year of Achievement and Sustainable Leadership

The evening carried added significance as WEIL Hotel celebrated two historic national achievements. Under the steadfast leadership of Managing Director Mr Liew Yu Wei, recently honoured as one of Asia’s Most Admirable Young Leaders of the Year, the hotel has made noteworthy strides in sustainable hospitality.

Recently, WEIL Hotel became the very first property in Malaysia to be certified under the ESG Certification for Hotels and Resorts Programme. Shortly afterwards, the hotel attained another milestone by becoming the first in the country to secure the prestigious LEED OM Gold Certification from the United States Green Building Council. These accomplishments reflect the hotel’s dedication to responsible stewardship, innovation, and a future driven by thoughtful, environmentally conscious decisions.

The festive dining programme includes Christmas Eve brunch and dinner, Christmas Day brunch and dinner, a series of delightful festive weekend buffets, along with New Year feasts designed to welcome the coming year in joyful fashion. Guests who place their reservations through the WEIL Horizon mobile app before the fourteenth of December will be able to enjoy special early bird rates. Children below four years old dine for free, making the celebration accessible to families wishing to gather around a hearty table during the season.
