Part of Karnival Amal Sinar Gunung Lang is actually like a “pasar malam” (night market) where you could find food (think sup tulang) and drink stalls and stalls that sell Malay fashion and skin care products. Two stalls stood out for me: one sells remote control vehicles and the other sells fighting fishes (Betta Splendens).
Stalls aside, there are many more activities lined up with generous cash prizes and hampers to be won: children’s colouring contest, karaoke competitions for children and adults, fishing competition, cooking demonstration and competition, vintage Vespa scooter competition, Battle of the Bands, cultural dance performances, clown walkabout, quizzes and lucky draws.
From what I understand, guest artistes like Mila (Akademi Fantasia 5 winner), Kristal, Ukays, Jimmy Screen and Bagio will also be performing.
As said, proceeds from this carnival will go to the five welfare homes in Perak. Besides supporting these businesses or activities, cash donations are also welcomed. Free t-shirts will be given to those who bring in recyclable goods above 10kg.
