The Ipoh City Council and MBI Pensioners Association (PERMAI) created history by bringing together more than 500 members at a gathering. On the guest list were former City Mayors, Council Secretaries, City Councillors, Heads of Departments and those who had held other positions within the council.

The memorable event, which was hosted at Gunung Lang Recreational Park, was officiated by current Mayor, Dato’ Ahmad Suaidi bin Abdul Rahim.

Among the former Mayors present were Dato’ Seri Talaat Husain, Dato’ Roshidi Hashim, Dato’ Hasan Nawawi, Dato’ Harun Rawi, as well as Dato’ Rafiai bin Moktar, who is President of PERMAI.

The close cooperation and strong commitment of Ipoh City Council and PERMAI have kept the programme running smoothly to achieve its goal of maintaining a friendly atmosphere while also creating a platform to support the council’s aspirations of making Ipoh a Smart City.

This is because the experience and knowledge of pensioners should not be wasted and ought to be expended for further development of Ipoh City, so that the council continues to be recognised as the country’s Best Local Authority.
