Kapitan Restaurant, Chulia Street, Penang

This 24-hour Indian-Muslim restaurant located at the junction of Chulia Street and Pitt Lane (Lebuh Pitt) in George Town, Penang, is famed for its claypot biryani rice, naan bread tandoori chicken and almond milk.

The restaurant’s extensive menu caters to a cross section of diners, including foreigners. It is claimed that Kapitan serves the best claypot briyani rice in Penang. One can choose from either chicken or beef to go with the rice.

Ready cooked dishes are also available at certain times of the day, and I understand that although diners can enjoy the air-conditioning on the upper floor, it is only open from 12 noon to 4pm and 7pm to midnight.
