180 children from eight homes were smiling from ear to ear when their wishes were granted at Ipoh Parade’s Grant A Wish Gift Presentation & Unwrapping Ceremony recently.

The annual ‘Grant a Wish’ event was the mall’s eighth consecutive campaign, to bring joy to these children in the season of giving during Christmas and New Year.

The homes invited to participate in this campaign were The Salvation Army Children’s Home, The Salvation Army Boys Home, Precious Gift Home, Ipoh Christian Centre (Agape Home), Pertubuhan Kebajikan Harapan Baru, Vision Home, Pertubuhan Pengurusan Pusat Jagaan 1 Malaysia, and Good Shepherd Family Home.

From 13th Nov to 29th Dec, the wishlists of these children were posted on a gigantic board at the mall’s Main Court. Shoppers were invited to fulfil these wishes by dropping off the gifts to the mall management.

Then on Saturday, 30th December, these kids were invited to a wonderful gift presentation ceremony. They were first feted to a delicious lunch before they got down to serious business of having their wishes granted and an afternoon of entertainment!

According to Mr. Chan Yu Yin, Ipoh Parade Centre Manager, out of 180 wishes posted, 120 were granted. “Popular gifts were books, musical instruments, sports equipment, clothes, bicycles and toys. All the children walked away with gifts as there were generous members of the public and corporate groups who donated cash for us to purchase the rest of the presents.
