Ipoh – Fukuoka 30th Anniversary Gala Dinner

The Perak state government wishes to expand its bilateral ties with Japan’s Fukuoka city, beyond the Ipoh – Fukuoka Twin Cities agreement from 30 years ago.

This was expressed by Perak Menteri Besar YAB Dato’ Seri Ahmad Faizal Dato’ Haji Azumu during a gala reception to welcome the 7-member Japanese delegation from Fukuoka to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Ipoh – Fukuoka Twin Cities.

He said, “Our co-operation would extend to include all aspects of society, such as education, culture, tourism and heritage, in addition to the current inter-governmental relations through the exchange of officials and students.”

In aspiring that this connection will be extended at the people-to-people level, he added, “It is hoped that entrepreneurs from Ipoh, and Perak at large, will take the opportunity to explore Fukuoka market and Japan in general, through this mutually beneficial relationship.

“We believe that there are many aspects that can be explored to provide socio-economic benefits to the citizens of both cities. A special committee should be formed to facilitate entrepreneurs from these two cities.”

One of the earliest developments from extension is the mutual understanding agreement between Taiping Zoo & Night Safari and Fukuoka City Zoological Garden on animal exchange.

He was speaking at a dinner to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Ipoh – Fukuoka Twin Cities in Ipoh on Wednesday. Sharing this interesting news at the gala event, Ahmad Faizal believed that the effort could pave the way for further collaboration between Fukuoka and other cities in Perak.
