Ipoh Car-Free Day: Merdeka Edition (2019)
Approximately 7,000 residents from Ipoh and neighbouring towns participated in the 43rd edition of Ipoh Car-Free Day on Sunday, with a Merdeka theme, in conjunction with the National Day celebration on 31st August.
The motto was: Sayangi Malaysiaku, Malaysia Bersih.
Among the participants at Ipoh Car-Free Day were Perak Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Ahmad Faizal bin Azumu and Ipoh City Mayor Dato’ Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim.
This monthly programme does not only aim to achieve the objective of Ipoh as a low carbon city, but also improves the happiness index among citizens and promotes awareness of the environment, health, safety, history, as well as its heritage.
Additionally, it is a platform for the City Council to achieve Sustainable Development Goals.
The programme attracted visitors to participate in activities offered by various government and non-governmental organisations.

On 25/8, ICFD was another major program, WALK FOR VALUES organised by Sathya Sai Baba Associations Of Perak. More than 1,000 people of all walks of life participated. The 3 themes in this walk are: Environment Care, No to Bully, Be a Buddy & Animal Care. YB Exco Dr Aziz Bari officiated. Thank you. Dr Elangovan, ICFD Co-ordinator.
ICFD 25/08 was very nostalgic with the Hari Kebangsaan feeling.
