Fire Safety Outreach Programme at Tadika Mariaville Good Shepherd
Tadika Mariaville Good Shepherd was selected by the Fire & Rescue Department of Malaysia to conduct a Fire Safety Outreach Programme, beneficial not only to the pupils but also their parents and teachers. It was the first time that a kindergarten was selected by the department.
After a briefing on fire safety, there was a demonstration on what one should do in the event of a fire in the kitchen. This is a common domestic accident, so the adults were more than willing to try to put the fire out under supervision. Other activities that morning included a colouring competition for the kids and photo sessions with the fire engine.
Ipoh fire station chief P. Samasuvam, who led the activity, said that it was important for the public to be aware of the need to educate themselves on first actions to be taken in case of fires occurred at home, specifically in the kitchen.
As this awareness should also reach the young, therefore, it was most appropriate that a kindergarten was selected this time in their outreach programme.
Kindergarten principal Mrs. C. Noel said that they have always made it a point to take the 6-year-olds to the Fire Station for hands-on activities and to learn about safety measures to be taken during a fire. She added, “We are honoured to be selected by the fire department for this programme. It was be a memorable day for both our pupils and their parents.”

This is a good practice. Start teaching the kids about safety so that they will always remember to be on the safe side and know how to react when a mishap happens.
a good knowledge. especially for the young kids.
It is good to educate children when they are small on the fire safety. I believe all the children are more equipped now after the programme.
i have attended such program too when i was still in primary school. reading this makes me recall my time when i was younger..:’)
It’s good to expose these kids to know about fire safety. At least if there is any emergency they know what to do and they wont get too panic
this is good lesson so the kids will know what to do in case a fire breaks out…
This is good, should have more this kind of program to raise the awareness of public towards fire accidents 🙂
Ah this is good and interesting, would be nice if they have more of such thing in the future. 😀
This is a good learning and exposure for the children.
This is really great for the kids- love that this sort of programme is there for them to venture into for good practice 🙂
