Grand Opening of Ho Yan Hor Museum
Ipoh Old Town was turned into a parade ground for the grand opening of Ho Yan Hor Museum on April 30, 2016. The auspicious date was chosen in conjunction with the 75th anniversary of Ho Yan Hor.
The museum, located along Jalan Bijeh Timah, was the original home of the herbal tea’s founder, Dr. Ho Kai Cheong and his family. The double-storey shop-house was the starting point of this tea.
Converted into a museum and opened to visitors since January this year, it allows visitors to walk through the history of Ipoh from the 1940s and tells the story of how the Ho Yan Hor brand has grown into the global pharmaceutical company it is today, renamed Hovid Berhad.

The ceremony, which was hosted by My FM DJ Jeff Chin (陈浩然), saw guest-of-honour State Non-Islamic Affairs Committee Chairman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon officiating the grand opening by striking a gong.

Amidst lion and dragon dance performances, invited guests and members of the public were taken back in time with a street parade which included a display of vintage cars, trishaws, bicycles, a marching band and stilt walkers.
The presence of ‘Herbal Tea ladies’, which was a huge phenomenon during the 1950s & 1960s, further gave the event a nostalgic air. Besides promoting Hovid products, they provided a free-flow of Ho Yan Hor herbal tea to the public that morning. On top of that, 75 prizes were given away through exciting games.

These photos are just a small insight into what happened that morning. Most importantly is to make a visit to Ho Yan Hor Museum as soon as possible. Details are below:
