Deepavali Charity Dinner @ IHI
Probably the first time for a hotel to celebrate Deepavali with the underprivileged, Impiana Hotel Ipoh took the lead by treating 40 children from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ihsan Kanak-Kanak Arut Perum Jothy to a memorable dinner at its ballroom recently.
Hosted with the collaboration of Perak Media Sports and Welfare Club, besides enjoying a dinner of vegetarian food, the children each received a goodie bag of treats from the hotel, a school bag with compliments from the state government and “ang pow”.
The home, located in Buntung, Ipoh, was founded by Baba Hindu Adigalar in 2004. Presently, it has 40 children from 5 to 17 years old. 35 of these children are schooling.
The evening also saw Perak Media Sports and Welfare Club present cash aid to a member of the club, T. Subramanian, a reporter with Tamil Nesan. Despite after losing a leg to diabetes, he continues to work for the newspaper, and is based in Kampar.
Guest-of-honour Dato’ V. Elango, who is the special adviser on Indian affairs to Perak Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri DiRaja Zambry Abd. Kadir, announced a special allocation of RM5,000 to the home and the same amount to Perak Media Sports and Welfare Club.
