The idea of Perak’s very own unique digital mall was mooted by Dato’ Dr. Mah Hang Soon at the first PCDA I.T. Fair in March of 2011, is finally taking shape.

Scheduled to be ready for business in early 2015, this digital mall on a land size of almost one acre is located at Tasek Square, an upcoming mini education hub with Poi Lam High School and UniKL (formerly Masterskill College) as neighbours.

Other nearby attractions would be AEON and EconSave, Perak Food & Delicacies Centre and the KTM Railway Station. In fact, Tasek is one of the focal points under the Plan 2020 development programme for Ipoh.

Perak I.T. Mall has received strong support from the Perak Telecommunications Business Association, which have taken up a good number of booths. Therefore, the mall would feature a dedicated handphone zone.

With a total of 81 sales lots and kiosks offering the latest in digital products, such as computers, mobile phones and accessories, shoppers would enjoy the convenience of price comparison under one roof. Besides sales booths, two kopitiams are planned; one sells Muslim food, and the other, non-Muslim food.

At this point, all the booths and kiosks have already been bought by members of the Perak Computer and Digital Association (P.C.D.A.), the association that will be setting up a professional management team for this mall.

However, those who are keen to operate a digital business at Perak I.T. Mall can express interest by filling up a form at the booth specially set up at the on-going Perak I.T. Fair at Stadium Indera Mulia. Telephone enquiries can also be made after April 6 by calling Mr. Kevin Chang, the Chairman of P.C.D.A. at 012-5383111. Although no figures were mentioned, rental is said to be at least 50% cheaper than the market rate.

Dato’ Lee Chee Leong, Vice President MCA Malaysia, the guest-of-honour of the Perak I.T. Fair, where this Perak I.T. Mall was revealed, felt that it’s high time Perak has a digital mall to call its own. He said, “Technology is a trend that is developing at such a fast pace, we have to keep up with it.”

This edition of Perak I.T. Fair, organised by P.C.D.A., sees a total of 110 booths offering a wide range of laptops, tablet computers, digital cameras, CCTV, mobile phones and related products.
