1,000 Ipoh City Council Staff Celebrate Deepavali
The Ipoh Town Hall was flooded with over a thousand staff of Ipoh City Council from all departments for an annual special Deepavali Assembly.

Following the opening performance of traditional Indian dance, Clr. Ganesan read out a speech by the Mayor, who pledged for Ipoh City Council to do its best to upgrade and promote areas with Indian identity and heritage, namely Little India in Old Town and Kampung Kacang Putih in Buntong.
Indeed, these places played their roles in bringing international spotlight to Ipoh, which received honourable mentions in global publications, such as Lonely Planet and CNN.
Said the Mayor, “Ipoh City Council is also committed to further develop areas steeped in Indian culture, as can be seen in various initiatives, for example, the Ipoh Local Plan 2020 and Ipoh Town Special Area Plan-The Tin Heritage Town 2020.”
In conclusion, Clr. Ganesan read, “We hope this Deepavali Special Assembly continues to foster friendship and brotherhood among the MBI family, regardless of position or status.
May the Festival of Lights extend to shine on Ipoh residents to live in a peaceful environment.
