1 Malaysia Sikh Fest – Punjabi Musical Cultural Extravaganza
In what was the biggest event to date to celebrate Punjabi culture and tradition, GerakSikh (Malaysia National Sikhs Movement) brought together a few big names from the Punjabi world of entertainment to put up a superb night of performances for the local community at Dataran Ipoh on December 14.
As I was held up at another function that evening, I arrived at the venue late, but still in time to witness for myself how Punjabi celebrities Deep Money and Harbhajan Mann brought the house down.
The crowd of spectators thoroughly enjoyed themselves by dancing along to the bhangra beats and singing along to the songs, where they knew by heart word for word. True fans they were!
Besides entertainment, visitors to Dataran Ipoh were treated to Punjabi snacks and had the chance to purchase Punjabi items at one of the many bazaar stalls.
The extravaganza, which was graced by HRH Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah and his consort, HRH Raja Permaisuri Tuanku Zara Salim, reportedly attracted a strong crowd of 15,000 Punjabis!
