WEDA Charity Food & Fun Fair (Hari Keluarga Dan Pesta Makanan)

Pertubuhan Pembangunan Dan Kemajuan Wanita Perak (WEDA) held its first charity food fair fund-raising do at the St. John’s Ambulance Hall this morning. Some of you may not have heard of this NGO yet because it’s new. From what I understand, it’s a non-profit organisation that supports single mothers in Perak.

The way this charity food fair was set up is similar to the ISPCA food fair fundraising charity event held at the same venue in November 2010, except on a smaller scale. I wonder if the same team of people organised both events.

The variety of food wasn’t spectacular but they were sold at very reasonable prices. I’ll let you be the judge:

Bihun sup ayam – RM3
Drinks (bandung cincau, jambu asam boi, tembikai) – RM2
Kuih muih – RM3
Rojak – RM2
Fried chicken – RM3
Nasi briyani – RM6
Bubur manis – RM2
100% pure seaweed jelly – RM10 for 3
Cucur udang – RM4
Butter cake & carrot cake – RM2 per piece
Sandwiches (tuna or egg) – RM3 each
Laksa – RM4
Satay – RM8
Burger – RM4

Besides food, there were some fun activities as well. Au Young the Clown was there to “sell” his balloon sculptures at RM2 each and there was also a “fish scooping” game at RM2 per try. The Lost World Petting Zoo was there and so were the “Say No To Plastic” campaigners who arrived in their Volkswagen Kombi. Kids got to participate in an art competition while adults were offered free health checks by BP Diagnostic Centre (BPDC).

Overall, this was a pretty slow-going event but I have no regrets choosing to attend this instead of Banyan Spa launch also held earlier today.
