Water Monitors in the Neighbourhood

Today, I am sharing a few photos of water monitors that I took over the past three months, before the torrential monsoon rains caused the most catastrophic floods in Malaysian history in December, 2014.

The water monitor is a large species of monitor lizard native to South and Southeast Asia, including Malaysia. As you can see, I found them in my neighbourhood in Ipoh.

Common these water monitors may be, they still creep me up. Can you believe that in some countries, they are a protected species?
