Walk Now For Autism 2013
April being World Autism Awareness Month, Autism Asperger’s Help Association (A.A.H.A.) organised a walk to create public awareness on the neuro-developmental disorder, and to raise funds to upkeep the association’s programmes for the year.
The first walk, held in 2011, collected RM25,000 for the association, that utilised it to set up the early intervention centre in Ipoh Garden East. This year, the association hoped to do better, so that more programmes could be implemented.
Walk Now For Autism 2013, which was launched by Ipoh Mayor Dato’ Roshidi Hashim, attracted the participation of people from all walks of life, irrespective of whether they are affected by autism. The early morning rain did not dampen their enthusiasm.
Besides generating public awareness, there was also an exhibition area set up at the Red Crescent Hall, and another area where businesses that deal in special aides, toys and books for children with special needs, displayed their products for the convenience of parents.
If you would like to make cash donations to A.A.H.A. or to volunteer your time or skills, feel free to contact the association at their Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/AAHAIp
