31st Edition of Ipoh Car-Free Day: 8,500 Visitors
The 31st edition of Ipoh Car-Free Day attracted some 8,500 visitors on Sunday morning from 7am to 10am, along its venue at Jalan Raja DiHilir.
As with previous monthly themed programmes, this July edition was to create awareness on autism as well as to celebrate World Population Day.
Among the activities organised that morning were Walk for Autism, Ride for Autism, Colouring Contest for Children, Disease Awareness Campaign, Recycling Awareness Campaign and also Health Campaign.
The Police Force as well as Fire and Rescue Department held exhibitions, allowing the public to get to know their job scope. Additionally, there was a long list of hands-on activities that visitors participated in, from archery to Zumba, street soccer, kickboxing, yoga and other healthy pursuits.
According to Council Secretary Encik Mohd Zakuan Zakaria, the Ipoh Car-Free Day programme is expected to turn Ipoh into a low carbon city. It is also anticipated to enhance the Index of Happiness among Ipoh residents by creating awareness on the environment, health, security, history and legacy of Ipoh City.
