Vietnamese Taste: The Best of Vietnamese Street Food Has Arrived in Ipoh

Social media has been abuzz with the opening of the new Vietnamese Taste, an eatery in Greentown Business Centre, Ipoh, located between Healy Mac’s and the halal-certified Greentown Dimsum Café.

If you remember, I have been craving for Vietnamese food since January (read here), but still haven’t got it fixed despite all the time that has passed. Therefore, this was an excellent opportunity to patronise a brand new eatery.

With an experienced Vietnamese chef helming the kitchen, Vietnamese Taste is a pork-free restaurant that serves all the best street food that you could find in Vietnam.

In today’s post, I am sharing with you my lunch yesterday; all are chef’s recommendations or signature dishes – you can place a similar order and know you won’t go wrong with it, especially as an introduction to Vietnamese food.

I would say that if you are looking for a healthy meal, this is a fine option. The dishes are generally not oily, and there’s a good variety of vegetables included in every dish.
Looking at these photos, you can see that the platters are of generous portions and value-for-money. If I were to choose my personal favourite from this spread, it would be a difficult task.

Perhaps, I should just say that I love the chicken, whether it was prepared for Bun Cha Gio or Com Ga Quay. And this says a lot for someone who ordinarily doesn’t eat much meat!

Oh yes, another top pick out of all these mouth-watering dishes, for me, is the Special Banh Mi, stuffed with a combination of chicken ham, egg, chicken floss, carrot, and coriander. This snack makes a superb side dish, to be shared, or even as your main meal if you are a light eater.

Dining here with family and friends is also an ideal time to catch up on grandmother stories, when you order the Nem Cuon Rice Wrap Platter, and take your own sweet time wrapping Nem Coun (spring rolls) among yourselves.

Additionally, if you are a coffee-lover, you should definitely try the Viet Specialty Coffee, or you can opt for the healthy ginger lemongrass tea to complement your meal.

All right, enough of text. Let’s have the photos do the talking instead. By the way, Vietnamese Taste will officially launch at the end of this month.
In conjunction with this auspicious occasion is a string of promotions to be enjoyed, from July until next year! Don’t just take my word for it. Dine at Vietnamese Taste to get your free vouchers!
