V Durian Traders: Branded Durians and Homemade Comfort Food in Ipoh
If you’re looking for good durians in Ipoh, fresh, fairly priced, and reliable, V Durian Traders is one of those places that keep customers returning.
Behind the shop is Kent Lim, an Ipoh-born local in his 40s, who started selling durians online during the MCO lockdown.
Like many of us, he had to adapt when times were tough. But what started as a small online venture has now become a proper physical shop, which officially opened in May 2024.
Business paused for a while when durians were off season late last year. However, V Durian Traders is back this durian season and ever-ready to serve.
A Steady Supply of Fresh Durians
One aspect Kent takes seriously is quality and consistency. To ensure his supply remains consistent, he’s leased a 15-acre durian orchard in Tanjung Rambutan, located on the outskirts of Ipoh.
The trees there are mature (at least 30 years old), and the orchard accommodates around 100 trees of 13 species, including:

Because Kent has control over the supply, he’s able to keep prices reasonable, often lower than the local average.
On top of that, he also brings in other durian types from well-known orchards in Penang (Balik Pulau), Pahang (Raub), and several towns in Johor. V Durian Traders caters to retail buyers, wholesale orders, and even exports, when suitable.
A Modest but Thoughtful Menu
While durians are clearly the main attraction, Kent understands not everyone enjoys them, or maybe you’re visiting when durians are out of season. That’s why he’s added a few hearty, home-cooked dishes to the menu.

These are Kent’s own recipes, and you won’t find them elsewhere. He’s no stranger to the F&B industry, having worked both as an owner and behind the scenes at big-name restaurants.
He even vacuum packs his noodles (without additives) for restaurant supply.
The food menu is kept simple on purpose: just a few solid dishes done right.

Whether you eat in or take away, the shop is a chill spot to relax. The air-conditioned space is decorated with wallpaper that gives a slight jungle feel, without the mosquitoes.
And if you drop by in the evening, you can choose to sit outside along the five-foot way, which is well-lit and safe.
