Tow Boo Kong (Taoist Temple) Jalan Raja Uda, Butterworth, Seberang Perai (Exterior)

I read that this temple was completed at a cost of MYR7 million back in 2000 but the arch itself was completed in 2008 at a cost of another MYR1.5 million. You can surely imagine how majestic the temple looks, at the hands of fifty skilled craftsmen imported from China!

From this visit alone, I have so many, so many beautiful photos to share that each time I am overwhelmed like this, I am breaking up my photos into two posts, and in this case, a post with photos of the exterior of Tow Boo Kong and another post with photos of the interior and the courtyard.

Frankly, photos cannot do this beautiful temple justice. I can say I have visited quite a few Chinese temples along the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia and even Singapore but I have never seen anything as grand, as majestic as this. We were there in the evening and I would have loved to stay a little longer to see how the temple lights up at night. It must be an awesome sight! This itself calls for another visit! And yes, it is still best to visit during the Nine Emperor Gods festival. The atmosphere is just different. Oh well, maybe next year.
