Kuala Kangsar Tow Boo Keong Nine Emperor Gods Festival Celebrations
The nine-day Nine Emperor Gods Festival is ongoing until the night of 4th October, 2022. This annual celebration is also conducted at the Kuala Kangsar Tow Boo Keong. What is different this year is the Nine Emperor Gods’ Imperial Seal that is being hosted at this particular temple.
For nine days, it is placed at a special altar for devotees to pay homage, in return for blessings from the Nine Emperor Gods.
Upon the return of the Nine Emperor Gods, this Imperial Seal will once again be relocated to the upper inner chamber of the Nine Emperor Gods, on the first floor of the temple, and only accessible to the temple management. Read more about the Imperial Seal here.
For the convenience of devotees, this Kuala Kangsar Tow Boo Keong is open 24/7 throughout the Nine Emperor Gods Festival. Complimentary vegetarian lunch is provided to all devotees.
Over these nine days, a long list of prayers and rituals as well as entertainment has been scheduled. The activities include:
26th – 28th Sept 2022:
from 7pm – self-singing karaoke session
28th Sept 2022:
from 11am – praying ceremony for the Five-Directional Army
29th Sept 2022:
from 7pm – karaoke competition
30th Sept – 2nd Oct 2022:
from 7pm – singing performances
1st Oct 2022:
from 11am – praying ceremony for the Five-Directional Army
3rd Oct 2022:
from 8pm – change of luck ritual
from 11pm – pay homage to Goddess Dou Mu
4th Oct 2022:
from 11am – praying ceremony for the Five-Directional Army
from 10pm – Nine Emperor Gods send-off ceremony
Taoists, especially those in Perak, are encouraged to visit this Kuala Kangsar Tow Boo Keong (temple) to receive blessings from the Nine Emperor Gods before the Imperial Seal is handed over to a new host, another Nine Emperor Gods temple, which is located in Semeling, Kedah.
