The Great British Circus With Death-Defying Acts

If you have yet to catch the Great British Circus currently in town (Ipoh), I urge you to go before they leave for another location. It is because this is a top-class circus which we rarely have the chance to watch.

With extreme acts such as the tightrope without any safety netting, the Wheel of Death and the Globe of Death, you are guaranteed to be kept on the edge of your seat as you marvel at the skills of these circus artistes.

However, it is not all death-defying stunts that you will see because this is a family-centric circus that is suitable for all ages. There’s Pompeo the clown to provide some light entertainment, which drew the most laughter from the audience, when I was there.

Between the acts, there is also singing and dancing, thus there is practically no down time, except for the 15-minute interval – it was a good photo opportunity with Misha the Polar Bear and Spiderman.

This British-style circus boasts fourteen performers from Portugal, Russia, Ukraine, Colombia and Bulgaria, all with varied experiences, including second and third generation circus performers.

What makes this Great British Circus unusual is that no animal is used. According to Biliana Kirilova, owner and show organiser, there is no need to use animals to provide entertainment.

She said, “With our circus, we would like to let everyone know that we can still have wholesome entertainment for the family without the animals. Also, we hope to be a regular feature in Malaysia, and not just a circus act that comes by your neighbourhood, once every thirty years.

“We are trying to introduce the circus to more children, get them involved and maybe one or two will pick up the art. As we found out, unlike in Europe, circus is still very new to Malaysians.”

The Great British Circus performed in Klang and Setia Alam (Shah Alam, Selangor) before coming to Ipoh, after which they will relocate to Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan for one month.

Therefore, grab this chance to watch the Great British Circus before it is too late! Details are in the flyer attached herewith.
