The 440-Fortissimo East Meets West Tour: Ipoh
Led by award-winning singer-songwriter Juwita Suwito and musician/social entrepreneur Wagner Daniel, a group of 15 musicians and 6 vocalists who call themselves Fortissimians, embarked on their inaugural East Meets West Tour, making Ipoh their first stop.
These Fortissimians hail from Kota Kinabalu, Kota Belud, Keningau, Tambunan and Ranau. They came together for four retreats within 18 months under 12 mentors.
Now, showcasing their talent in Ipoh, Klang Valley in June, subsequently Kuching this September; joined by Melvin Goh on keyboards, Elliot Koon on drums, Terry Yeow on guitars and Bernedek Suni on bass, it was truly apt to name this venture the East Meets West Tour.
The Fortissimians’ stop at Ipoh was organised by Four Forty Records and hosted by Sepaloh Art Centre in Ipoh Old Town, the picnic-style chill out session was in two half-hour acoustic sets featuring cover versions and Juwita’s original tracks. Making their debut appearances in a public performance were Roy Dinsim and Dulimah Yanggit.
This inaugural Fortissimo Tour in Ipoh featuring Juwita Suwito and friends attracted people of different age groups, most of whom arrived way earlier than the scheduled start time of 8.30pm. They were very enthusiastic and supportive, and genuinely entertained that night for about two hours.
