That’s right! Ipoh also got talent! After closely following three intensive rounds of the inaugural competition, I can safely say that. Although there could only be one winner, I would say that most contestants are talented; some just need a little more time to polish it.
On finals night, the twelve finalists stepped up their performances by a couple of notches. I believe it was a tough decision for the judges to pick the winner, despite 30% of the score being decided by the audience through ballot voting. Ah, pity those contestants who did not have an entourage of supporters present.
As said, there could only be ONE winner and the trophy, and prizes worth RM3000, went to 12-year-old Chong Yan Sheng from Bukit Merah, Lahat, Perak, who performed a comedic face mask changing cum singing routine. Chong Yan Sheng, who is a veteran performer in Ipoh despite his age, scored 6 As and 1 B at the recent UPSR examination. Looks like he is not only talented in the arts. Congratulations to him!
