Symphony Suites 2nd Annual Staff Party
With a theme of black and red, staff of Symphony Suites entertained themselves at the hotel’s second annual staff party last Friday.
Addressing his staff, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Lee Chee Ming believed that despite the tough past year, there were still many things to be thankful for. He said, “No doubt, we have made progress but there is still a long way to go before breaking even. There are many challenges ahead and the task is not getting easier, especially when other hotels are dropping their selling prices even in the face of rising costs.
“Even as we work harder, we have to make a better effort to cut down on costs and yet maintain our service and quality. This isn’t limited to one single department as every department, every individual, has an equal role to play.”
Compared to a year ago, the hotel achieved an 18% increment in terms of Gross Operating Profit in 2015. Still, hotel General Manager David Tsen drew a number of targets for his staff to meet this year, including raising occupancy rate to 72%.
According to David, working hard for the betterment of the hotel is one of the ways to show appreciation to its stakeholders.
At the event, a number of accolades were presented, including Zero MC Record Award, Best Attendance Award and Best Employee of the Year (Male & Female) Awards.
The selection for Best Employee Awards was based on the attitude of the employee; someone who is committed, dedicated, able to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels, never complain and is an exemplary model to others.
The winners were Razif Jamaluddin (male) and Nurul Amirah Bt. Sulaiman (female). Coincidentally, both of them are from the Front Office Department.
Some staff members also received their letters of promotion that evening. It was a delightful surprise for them but a timely reward for the efforts. Once the formalities were over, it was time to let their hair down and enjoy the night.
Amidst the games sessions and lucky draws, General Manager David Tsen delivered a song. And so did Chief Executive Officer Mr. Lee Chee Ming when his name was called unexpectedly. All in all, it was a joyous occasion that helped to establish better rapport among the Symphony Suites Hotel family.
