Thousands of colourful balloons were released into the night sky as Ipoh Parade’s animated graphics façade was illuminated through power generated from the pedalling of three exercycles by VIPs of the evening, guest-of-honour YB Dato’ Dr. Mah Hang Soon (Perak State EXCO member), Mr. Thomas Kong (Director of Portfolio Management for ARA Asset Management Ltd.) and Mr. Chan Yu Yin (Ipoh Parade Centre Manager).
Witnessed by scores of shoppers, the event, Ipoh Parade’s very own Festival of Lights, marked a major milestone for the complex and celebrated the completion of a year of refurbishment and upgrading works to the mall, at a cost of some RM100 million.
Ipoh Parade, which first opened its doors for business in 1994, has been a major shopping landmark in Ipoh. With this modern transformation, it has strengthened its position as a premier retail destination in the city, offering even more brands for discerning shoppers.
The mall has certainly come a long way over these past two decades, and with this improvement to its hardware, shoppers can look forward to an enhanced shopping, entertainment and lifestyle experience at Ipoh Parade.
In conjunction with this Festival of Lights, shoppers were able to participate in plenty of activities in a carnival-like atmosphere inside and outside of the mall, from simple fun-fair games to large inflatables and witness stunt performances by fire-eaters, illusions by street magicians, clown entertainment and lots more.
Over these next two weeks, more excitements are in store, including celebrity meet-and-greet, magic shows, singing and dancing performances, as well as talent competitions, just to name a few. Ipoh Parade is definitely the place to be in the coming weeks…and years to come.
Part of the activities for this celebration is supported by Au Young Events, supplying entertainment acts such as clowns, mascots, magicians and fire-eaters as well as party or carnival needs from face-painting to cotton candy, sand art and car displays.
