Although initially scheduled for four days only from 29th October, Putrajaya International Islamic Arts & Culture Festival 2015 (PIIACUF 2015) has been extended until 8th November, 2015 due to popular demand.

The annual PIIACUF, in its third year now, aims to establish Putrajaya as a centre of excellence for Islamic arts and culture.

5. a round tent from Oman

Themed Treasures of the Silk Road & Spice Route, this year’s festival portrays the glorious history of the Silk Road and Spice Route, with key elements presented in a special exhibition which tells the story of how Islam was spread through trading along the overland Silk Road and maritime Spice Route since the third century.

Besides this, there are three other supporting exhibitions:

1. The Haramain: An exhibition of the two holy mosques of Mekah Mukaramah and Madina Munawarah
2. Calligraphy exhibition from IRCICA Turkey and Al Quran Mushhaf Malaysia from Yayasan Restu
3. Keris (Daggers) from Nusantara

Also included as part of the programme are various edutainment and living activities such as Islamic Fashion Show, Aulad zone for children’s interactive activities, cultural performances, bazaar souq, International Islamic Book Expo and more.

Do take note that even though the main events have wrapped up, all exhibitions are still open to the public until 8th November, 2015.

Participating Islamic countries include Turkey, Kuwait, Algeria, Brunei, Oman, Uzbekistan, China, Indonesia, Iran and Tunisia. Malaysia, as host country, naturally plays an important role in PIIACUF. The states of Kelantan and Johor also sent delegations to the festival.

  1. Love to see Islamic fashion has becoming better and better every year. I think it’ll be a good benefit for the public to learn more about Islamic arts culture 🙂

  2. nice sharing, a good history lesson on how Islam was spread in the early days. I don’t think i’ll be dropping by though, but may google up more on this topic for more information 🙂
