Wanita MCA Perak, in collaboration with Persatuan Kemajuan Wanita Perak, brought Chinese New Year festive cheer to more than a hundred families, through Project Care Love Cookie recently at Seri Lido Restaurant in Ipoh. Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Y.B. Datuk Heng Seai Kie officiated the event.
At the ceremony, a hundred Chinese single parents, 5 Malay, 5 Indians and 5 from other races, brought along two of their children below 12 years old, to receive goodies and angpows. Generous corporations in Perak sponsored food hampers, while the State Welfare Department took care of the angpows. Each adult received RM200 and each child, RM20.
Every family also received heart-shaped cookies which were painstakingly baked by the committee members of Wanita MCA Perak. This was the symbol of love and care that this Association showed to single parents, particularly single mothers.
