The smiles on the faces of children, their guardian and ten single mothers said it all. What a memorably joyous evening it was for these guests when they were feted to a scrumptious buffet dinner at Symphony Suites Hotel Ipoh, last Sunday for an early Deepavali celebration.
The children were from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-kanak Pelangi Buntong, Perak, while the single mothers were members of the community.
Besides a great dining experience, a fun time was enjoyed by all the attendees, when the children were invited on stage to strut on the imaginary runway à la catwalk models.
The women, on the other hand, competed to see who was the best saree draper. It was all in good fun and every participant walked home a winner.
The highlight of the occasion was, of course, distribution of hampers and goodie bags sponsored by Econsave Ampang Baru, as well as Deepavali “green packets” presented by Symphony Suites Hotel for all the guests.
The Corporate Social Responsibility initiative was jointly organised for the second time by the hotel and Econsave Ampang Baru branch, supported by Gopeng Parliamentary Constituency and DUN Simpang Pulai.
This effort was to ensure that no one in the community is excluded from an important celebration such as Deepavali, no matter their background or circumstances.
The delightful event was attended by YB Dr Lee Boon Chye (Deputy Health Minister), YB Tan Kah Hing (Perak Tourism ExCo), Symphony Suites Hotel Chief Executive Officer Mr Lee Chee Ming and Director Dato’ Sri Richard Tan, Econsave Ampang Baru Manager Mr Rakhesh, Puan Nurul Fadrulina Binti Abdul Jalil (Pengerusi Pertubuhan Perpaduan Budaya Wanita Kinta Perak), staff and well-wishers.
