The upcoming PETRONAS Grand Prix of Malaysia 2024 scheduled from 1st to 3rd November 2024 at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC), promises to be a thrilling and memorable occasion, celebrating three major milestones in the world of motorsport.
During a press conference held yesterday at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, key details of the event were revealed. YB Adam Adli, the Deputy Minister of Youth & Sports Malaysia, was present to emphasise the Government’s efforts to make sports more accessible to the masses.
25 Years of the Sepang International Circuit (SIC)
2024 marks the 25th anniversary of the Sepang International Circuit, a venue that has become iconic in the world of motorsport since its opening in 1999. Over the years, SIC has hosted countless international events, becoming a favourite among fans and drivers alike. This year, the circuit will not only celebrate its silver anniversary but also continues its tradition of hosting the MotoGP™ Malaysia.
PETRONAS: Celebrating 50 Years of Innovation
PETRONAS, the title partner of the Grand Prix, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Over the past five decades, PETRONAS has been instrumental in supporting and advancing motorsport in Malaysia and globally. This golden jubilee is a testament to PETRONAS’ unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and the growth of the sport.
Commemorating 75 Years of MotoGP™ Racing
The 2024 MotoGP™ season is particularly significant as it marks 75 years of World Championship racing. This milestone celebrates the rich heritage and evolution of the sport, bringing together riders, teams, and fans to honour 75 years of thrilling competition. The MotoGP™ Malaysia 2024 event will play a pivotal role in these celebrations, offering fans a chance to reflect on the sport’s illustrious history.
Government Initiatives and Special Offers for Fans
In line with the Government’s Malaysia Madani initiatives, PETRONAS SIC is reintroducing the Tiket Rahmah, priced at an affordable RM49.90, to ensure that the excitement of MotoGP™ is accessible to a broader audience. Additionally, in celebration of Merdeka Day, there is a special 25% discount on tickets available until 20 September 2024.
Azhan Shafriman Hanif, Chief Executive Officer of SIC, shared his enthusiasm, saying, “We are thrilled to celebrate these big milestones. This year is particularly special. A big thank you to HIFIVE Entertainment for coming on board as our strategic partner for this festival. We are offering an exclusive festival ticket for MotoGP™ Malaysia fans at just RM500, available from now until 31 August 2024.”
YB Adam Adli also highlighted the importance of nurturing emerging talents in the sport. “We are dedicated to nurturing excellence and innovation in the sport and supporting emerging talents such as Hakim Danish and Qabil Irfan in their quest to become world champions,” he remarked.
Exciting Fan Activities and Events
Race week will commence with a special Meet and Greet session featuring MotoGP™ riders, in collaboration with PETRONAS. On 1st November 2024, fans will have the opportunity to participate in popular activities like the Public Pit Lane Walk and the Riders’ Autograph Session, offering a unique chance to meet their favourite riders in person.
The Night Track Tour, a fan favourite, will return on 1st November 2024. Additionally, the MotoGP™ Mega Carnival will provide a diverse array of shopping, entertainment, and interactive activities suitable for the whole family. With over 100 renowned brands participating, the carnival is set to be a highlight of the event.

Macklemore to Headline AFTER RACE FEST
The excitement reaches new heights with the announcement that Grammy Award-winning rapper Macklemore will headline the AFTER RACE FEST. Known for his energetic performances and socially conscious music, Macklemore is sure to deliver an unforgettable show. Fans can also look forward to his latest single “Hinds Hall,” a powerful statement of solidarity with Palestine.
AFTER RACE FEST will showcase a diverse lineup of artistes across various genres, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Among the headliners is the renowned band Smash Mouth, who rose to fame in the late 1990s. The five-member band is expected to rock the stage with their classic hits such as “All Star,” “Walkin’ On The Sun,” and “So Insane,” bringing a nostalgic vibe to the event.

The organisers, HIFIVE Entertainment, have curated a lineup that perfectly complements the energetic atmosphere of the MotoGP™ event. Alongside Macklemore and Smash Mouth, the AFTER RACE FEST will feature popular Indonesian acts, Nidji and Feel Koplo, as well as Malaysian favourites 6ixth Sense and DE FAM. These artistes, known for their dynamic performances, will ensure that the festival caters to both global and local music fans.
