Pesona Terengganu 2015

There is a saying that goes, “If the mountain won’t come to Muhammad, then Muhammed must go to the mountain.” And this is exactly what the Terengganu state agencies, supported by the state government, are doing.

Over five days, people in Kuala Lumpur, local and foreign, are able to see the best of Terengganu in Dataran Merdeka and Dataran DBKL, where the state’s arts and culture, tourism products, food as well as economic opportunities are showcased and highlighted at three different pavilions.

Pesona Terengganu 2015, as a run up to Visit Terengganu Year 2017, currently held in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s historical strip, is the first event of a roadshow that will also stop at Johor Bahru in the south and Penang in the north in the near future.

More than three hundred Terengganu entrepreneurs, including a number of co-operatives, have taken up booths to promote their products and services.

Although there are many businesses that have applied to participate in the event, only the cream of the crop are selected for Pesona Terengganu 2015.

Terengganu cooperatives are also well-looked after in the sense that they are always included in fairs like these as part of the state’s economic contributor. However, the state agency only includes quality cooperatives that have something different to offer.

Besides the trade expo, there is also the consumer fair and Terengganu Kitchen that offers the best traditional cuisine of Terengganu, from nasi dagang to sata, keropok lekor and more. Do take note that Terengganu Kitchen is open until tomorrow (2nd November, 2015) while the trade and consumer fairs will end today (1st November, 2015).

Besides the above attractions, a number of activities have been lined up such as buskers as well as music and cultural performances to provide visitors with a glimpse of the culture and tradition of Terengganu people.

Visiting both the pavilions that house the trade show and consumer fair, I am convinced that a lot of thought was put into them to highlight what Terengganu has to offer, so much so that even baby turtles have been brought in all the way from the East Coast state. This is to impress upon visitors the importance of turtle conservation and how the public can contribute towards the cause.

I have to say that although I have been to Terengganu multiple times, I still find Pesona (Charming) Terengganu a worthy visit because of the precise information that one can get about the state. It answers the question, “What does Terengganu have to offer?”

By the way, the theme of this promotion is “Pesona Terengganu” but the tagline for Visit Terengganu Year 2017 is “Beautiful Terengganu”. It is hoped that with Pesona Terengganu’s efforts, Terengganu will become the primary tourist destination for 2017 and beyond.
