Perak Media Engages Ipoh Mayor in Meaningful Dialogue on City Development
Constructive relationships between the media and local authorities play a crucial role in shaping public understanding and trust. This was highlighted on 15 January 2026, when a delegation of Perak media practitioners paid a courtesy visit to the Mayor of Ipoh in a meeting focused on cooperation, communication and shared responsibility.

The delegation was headed by Sayed Hesham bin Syed Idris, President of Persatuan Pengamal Media Perak (PPMP), and was warmly received by Ipoh City Mayor YBhg. Tuan Zamakhshari bin Hanipah.
Senior representatives from the Media Bureau and various departments under Ipoh City Council were also present, reflecting the council’s commitment to meaningful engagement with the media sector.

A Platform for Direct and Honest Exchange
Rather than a one-sided briefing, the meeting evolved into a constructive exchange of ideas. Media practitioners were given the opportunity to interact directly with the Mayor, gaining first-hand insights into Ipoh’s administrative priorities and development plans.
The open nature of the discussion allowed for clearer understanding on both sides, helping media professionals better contextualise city initiatives, while enabling city officials to appreciate the media’s perspective and responsibilities.

Recognising the Media’s Role in Public Communication
During the session, Ipoh City Council reiterated its recognition of the media as an essential partner in public communication. Accurate, responsible and transparent reporting was highlighted as a cornerstone in building a well-informed community.
By maintaining close working relationships with media practitioners, the council aims to ensure that information shared with the public reflects integrity, clarity and accountability.

Moving Forward Together
The courtesy visit marked another step forward in reinforcing the strategic relationship between the media and local government. More importantly, it demonstrated a shared commitment to fostering open communication in support of Ipoh’s long-term vision.
As the city continues to grow and evolve, such engagements serve as a reminder that collaboration remains key to creating a city that is not only progressive but also trusted by its people.
