Media Members & Ipoh City Council Strategic Partners Hi-Tea With The Mayor
Over a hundred media members and eight strategic partners of the Ipoh City Council (MBI) enjoyed a hi-tea session with the Mayor of Ipoh City yesterday afternoon at Qing Xing Ling Leisure & Cultural Village. Also in attendance were Qing Xin Ling director Mr Cheng Swee Kiat alongside manager Mr Beh Tek Lee, Ipoh City Councillors, Council Secretary, Senior Director, and Department Heads.
The event, which was jointly organised by the Ipoh City Council and Qing Xin Ling, illustrated the close working relationship between the Council and its strategic partners, which included Qing Xin Ling and the local media.
In his speech, the Mayor Y.Bhg. Dato’ Rumaizi bin Baharin@Md Daud expressed delight at the opportunity to mingle with media members in a relaxed setting and hoped that such events would foster closer cooperation between the Ipoh City Council management and media practitioners for the benefit of Ipohites, in their fair and balanced reporting of news in the city, whether in newspapers, television or radio.
He said, “I am impressed with media friends in Perak, particularly in Ipoh, for having carried out their duties according to good journalistic ethical practices. This has greatly helped us explain the latest policies and actions implemented or planned for the city. In the reverse direction, citizens are also able to channel their opinions and complaints directly to the authorities.
“Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and the private sector that carry out Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes will also receive extensive publicity when they contribute to the success of community events. This way, the media is not only our strategic partner but to all who are involved in advancing the Ipoh City that we love.”
Besides Qing Xin Ling and two media associations, namely Perak Media Sports & Welfare Club plus Perak Media Practitioners Association, the other five strategic partners of the City Council who received certificates of appreciation were Chang Jiang White Coffee, Pasaraya Econsave, Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad, Navira Meditech Sdn Bhd, and Sunway Lost World of Tambun.
Through strategic partnerships with the aforementioned private companies and collaboration with government agencies and NGOs via the MBI Prihatin (Ipoh City Council Cares) which was established during the Movement Control Order of COVID-19 pandemic, many Ipohites were able to benefit from the RM2 million assistance received to pull through the toughest of times.
The Ipoh City Council looks forward to working closely with more parties, especially with 2024 being Visit Perak Year.
