Some queued up way before the venue was opened for business hoping to bag items that were selling at limited quantities at seriously discounted prices only for one morning and while stocks lasted.

closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems are a necessity these days

Perak I.T. Fair was launched by Perak State EXCO Y.B. Dato’ Dr. Mah Hang Soon, whom in his speech, reassured that the state government is doing its best to improve on the household broadband penetration rate to 75% by 2015 and full coverage by 2020. Up to June of 2012, it was at 53.1%.

Making his rounds later to check out the booths, Dato’ Dr. Mah was rather surprised that Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has become a necessity and no longer luxuries, and luckily, the products are more affordable these days.

Meanwhile, Perak Computer and Digital Association (PCDA) chairman Kevin Chang, appealed to the Federal Government to consider, during Budget 2015, an allocation of ICT vouchers to students, worth RM300 each to be used to purchase electronic products that they really need such as computers, printers, external hard disk, tablets, etc.

Kevin added, “ICT vouchers will be more useful to students, rather than the free netbook programme which could kill the industry.”

Checking out the 120 booths yesterday morning, I got myself a 32GB micro SD card and a 4-in-1 OTG cable. What caught my eye was the Ipoh-assembled Vomoz tablet model N7, a 7” tablet with 3G call at RM499 only and also mini LED projectors, which are good for those doing face-to-face presentations to a small group of clients.

It doesn’t need repeating that prices at this IT Fair are discounted and you may not be able to get such a good deal when the event is over, and have to wait for the next edition.
