Paya Indah Wetlands, Dengkil
One of the stops during our tour of Selangor was Paya Indah Wetlands (PIW) in Dengkil. PIW certainly offers something different than the two earlier wetlands that I visited recently, in Putrajaya and Setiu in Terengganu.
There are almost twenty recreational activities that one could indulge in at PIW, but my friends and I only had enough time to feed the crocodiles and hippopotamuses. It would be awesome if we could also spend time boating, cycling, fishing or camping. In fact, there are chalets to let at PIW at very reasonable rates.
After the feeding sessions, we visited the Terengganu-style Malay village house for some much needed rest and recreation. The Paya Indah Wetlands is huge and a lot of walking is involved! PIW is actually divided into three zones: Conservation & Research, Education and Recreation.
This November, PIW will be organising a two-day carnival. Activities and competition lined up include kayaking, pocket bike, karaoke, fishing, cycling and cooking, just to name a few. Admission is free!
