MKN Lepak Santai With Media Friends
Majlis Kebudayaan Negeri Perak (MKN) hosted Program Lepak Santai MKN 2024, a lively gathering aimed at strengthening camaraderie between Perak’s cultural organisations and media representatives.

Held at Tower Regency Hotel in Ipoh, this event featured members from 29 creative organisations, highlighting the depth and diversity of the Perak’s arts scene.

Guests were treated to a delightful dinner, followed by engaging activities that highlighted the richness of Perak’s cultural heritage. Attendees, in mixed groups of media and other guests, joined in games, which included playing traditional musical instruments, and participating in a joget dance session.


Special Presentations for the Cultural Community
The evening also included several special presentations:
Support for SPM students: In a meaningful gesture, Tone Wow prepaid cards were presented to children of cultural practitioners who will be sitting for their Sijil Peperiksaan Malaysia (SPM) exams in 2025, symbolising support for their academics.

Mahabbah contributions: Two committee members received Mahabbah contributions – one recipient whose father passed away two weeks ago, while another is supporting an ill brother.

Showcasing the Diverse Organisations Under MKN
Representing a rich blend of artistic disciplines, MKN’s 29 affiliate organisations include practitioners of performing arts, visual arts, traditional dance, music, and more, all dedicated to celebrating and sustaining Perak’s cultural legacy. These organisations actively work to keep the arts scene vibrant and evolving in the state.


MKN’s Cultural Milestones
MKN has also made significant strides internationally, fostering cultural exchanges that bring Perak’s heritage to a global audience. Among the programmes participated in were the Cultural Performance Youth Programme in Singapore (2019) and the Art & Culture Festival in Bejing, China (2019).MKN’s efforts have placed Perak on the international cultural map.

Signature Programmes in Cultural Education
With a focus on youth and community engagement, MKN’s signature initiatives included the Bangsawan theatre series and Akademi Teater Perak (AKTEP), introducing young audiences to the world of theatre plus traditional performance. Programmes like these, along with grants such as GSSK and GSSP, continue to fuel Perak’s rich cultural tapestry.

A Step Forward in Cultural Collaboration
Through Program Lepak Santai MKN 2024, MKN showcased its dedication to preserve Perak’s unique cultural identity while fostering an open dialogue with media professionals. This memorable event served as a reminder of the vibrant traditions that continue to inspire and shape the cultural landscape of Perak.
