Malam Sinar Ramadan 2026: A Meaningful Evening of Appreciation with the Perak Media

On 10th March 2026, members of the media community came together for a special breaking-of-fast gathering at 1969 D’Kelly Hotel. The event, Malam Sinar Ramadan 2026, was hosted by Pusat Aspirasi Anak Perak (PASAK).

Malam Sinar Ramadan is held annually to acknowledge the media fraternity for their continued role in informing the public about PASAK’s initiatives taking place in Perak.

In his speech, YB Dato’ Sivanesan A/L Achalingam, the Perak State Executive Councillor for Health, Human Resources, National Integration, and Indian Community Affairs, who is PASAK Chairman, expressed his gratitude for the dedication shown by journalists and editors who work tirelessly to report on public policies, development initiatives, and social programmes.

For the state government, the media serves as an important partner in ensuring that accurate information reaches the community. Their reporting helps the public understand how government plans and initiatives may benefit them.

The event, therefore, provided an opportunity to strengthen mutual understanding and appreciation between both parties.

Reinforcing Cooperation Between Government and Media

YB Dato’ Sivanesan highlighted how the relationship between the government and the media has evolved over the years.

Having spent more than four decades in public life, he shared that he has worked alongside many generations of journalists. Throughout this time, the media has remained a crucial channel for communicating policies and explaining development efforts to the public.

He also emphasised that responsible reporting plays a key role in building a well-informed society. When people are aware of available opportunities, they are more likely to participate in programmes designed to support their growth and wellbeing.

Moving Forward with the Perak Sejahtera 2030 Vision

A key theme of the evening was the state’s ongoing commitment to the development framework known as Perak Sejahtera 2030.

This long-term plan aims to strengthen economic growth while improving the quality of life for residents throughout the state. Human capital development forms an important pillar of this aspiration. Meanwhile, the government continues to focus on equipping the workforce with skills required for modern industries, ensuring that young people are prepared for the changing demands of the job market.

Effective communication through the media guarantees that these programmes reach a wider audience.

PASAK and Its Role in Career Development

PASAK operates under the Perak State Government and focuses on helping residents secure employment while enhancing their professional skills.

The organisation began in 2011 as Pusat Kerjaya Amanjaya (PeKA), providing career support services and job placement initiatives. In 2018, it was reintroduced as PASAK with a broader mandate that includes workforce development, training programmes, and industry engagement.

Over the years, PASAK has grown into a key agency that connects job seekers with employers, while guiding individuals towards suitable career pathways.

Supporting Skills Development Through TVET

One of PASAK’s priorities is encouraging participation in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

These programmes provide practical training that equips participants with skills that are directly relevant to industry needs. In addition to technical knowledge, the programmes also include elements of communication, teamwork, and other professional competencies.

Every year, between 2,000 and 3,000 participants benefit from PASAK initiatives that prepare them for employment opportunities across various sectors.

Such efforts contribute to the wider goal of building a capable and competitive workforce in Perak.

Expanding Engagement in the Future

Looking ahead, YB Dato’ Sivanesan shared plans to widen the scope of future engagements with the media.

Departments and agencies that fall under his portfolio may also be invited to participate in similar gatherings. These include organisations connected to healthcare, labour affairs, occupational safety, and community development.

Such interactions provide valuable opportunities for open discussion, enabling agencies to share updates about their programmes while receiving feedback from media representatives.

As the occasion concluded later in the evening, the gathering ended with a renewed sense of cooperation among the state government, PASAK, and media members.

By working together, these stakeholders play a crucial role in confirming that development strategies reach the people who are meant to benefit.

Events such as Malam Sinar Ramadan highlight how dialogue, partnership, and shared responsibility can help move Perak closer to its long-term goals.

Beyond policy discussions and updates, the evening carried the warm and welcoming atmosphere commonly associated with Ramadan gatherings.

Guests from diverse backgrounds shared the Iftar meal and engaged in friendly conversations, reflecting the multicultural harmony that characterises Malaysian society.
