The sixth Majlis Mesra Muhibbah Bersama Kanak-Kanak & Dewasa Rumah Kebajikan at the Ceylon Association Hall, Jalan Tun Perak (Jalan Conolly) in Ipoh witnessed happy faces among the 200 invited guests.
Comprising children and adults of all ages, encompassing different races and religion, these guests were from twenty welfare homes in Ipoh and nearby.
President of Persatuan Wira Malaysia, Dato’ R.Thambipillay, in his address, mentioned about the need to lend a helping hand to the less fortunate, especially the orphans and senior citizens.
Pleased with the turnout at the event due to the dedication of the organising committee, he said, “It is everyone’s responsibility to contribute to society whenever possible.”
He added, “We hope that through our annual event, our special guests are able to share in the celebration of Deepavali as well as mingle with residents from other homes during this festive season.”
Guest-of-honour, State Executive Councillor-cum-Women Development, Family, Community Welfare and National Integration Committee chairperson Dato’ Rusnah Kassim distributed goody bags to the invitees following a sit-down Deepavali lunch served by Martin Food Caterers.
Dato’ Rusnah, seeing the delightful faces and broad smiles of children and adults alike, praised Persatuan Wira Malaysia (Wira Association Malaysia) for showing exemplary humanitarian leadership in organising this event for the sixth year and expressed hope that more associations would follow suit.
