Lumut, Perak
These random photos were taken during my recent brief visit to Lumut, a coastal town about 84km south of Ipoh City. Lumut, whose name is the Malay word for ‘moss’, is the gateway to Pangkor Island.
Lumut, which used to be a quaint little fishing town, has undergone rapid development in recent years, especially since it became the home base of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) in the 1980s.
Pesta Laut Lumut (Lumut Sea Festival) is an annual sea-sports event that attracts participants from all over the world. Additionally, another attraction is the stretch of beach in Teluk Batik, which is just a short 6km away from Lumut town.
