D’Ocean Deluxe Unit @ Marina Island Pangkor Resort & Hotel
After an extremely gruelling 2-day food and fun hunt organised by Swiss-Garden Beach Resort Damai Laut which took hunters, including yours truly, from Bidor to Batu Gajah in Perak, it was time for some much-needed rest and recreation. After all, it was not easy to emerge as champions, so a reward was definitely justified.
I extended my stay in Lumut for another night and decided to move over to Marina Island Pangkor Resort & Hotel. Why not, when it is only RM188 nett per night per unit? This offer is available throughout 2017, in conjunction with Visit Perak Year.
If you are not aware yet, Marina Island Pangkor Resort & Hotel is also one of the participants of the 100,000 Hotel Rooms Promotion, an initiative of Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Perak Chapter to boost tourist numbers to the state.
This was my third stay at the resort, and I requested for a room with a lagoon view. It’s very scenic but guests could ask for a unit with marina view instead.
Unlike many of my hotel and resort stays, this one was purely for rest and recreation. I didn’t want to do much but found a lot of new attractions within the property itself since my previous visit two years ago.
One of them was the Frenzy Water Park, which was opened last March. That’s ten months ago. Silly aquaphobic me dared not go into the water but the joyous shouts of the children and their parents attracted me to watch them play.
Then, there is the fish pond, which is actually owned by one of the directors of Marina Island Pangkor Resort & Hotel. I was told that there are eighteen fish in the pond, which began their life here at only 20kg in weight.
They now weigh some 50kg each, within a duration of less than a year. Guests at the hotel are able to share in the joy of this private hobby by feeding the fish, with what else but smaller fish, at a price of RM2 for six. Fish feeding hours are from 4pm to 6pm.
When I was there, I bumped into a group of vacationers who told me that they were planning to trek Bukit Engku Busu, which is just nearby. As I was feeling lazy and didn’t want to exert myself further, I gave that a pass but will plan a return trip – later, when I am feeling energetic!
With my base at Marina Island Pangkor Resort & Hotel, I went food hunting in the neighbourhood. I have shared my culinary discoveries in a separate post HERE.
If you are planning a trip to Lumut or even if you have yet to make plans for a domestic holiday this coming school holidays in March, you should consider Marina Island Pangkor Resort & Hotel. As I said, it was my third stay already and fussy me has no complaints at all.
