Taman Paya Bakau Bandar, Lumut
Located along the Ipoh – Lumut Highway about ten minutes’ drive from Lumut Town, Taman Paya Bakau Bandar is situated in this place called Desa Manjung Raya. Its uniqueness lies in its proximity to town areas, hence it is the only mangrove swamp park in the country that is developed in an urban area.
First opened its doors to the public in January 1995, this mangrove park is a primary eco-tourism destination in Manjung area for the purpose of education and information.
Over the decades, the park has undergone renovation and development, without disturbing the mangrove ecology. It boasts a suspension bridge now, allowing visitors to walk across the park while enjoying an aerial view of swamp land.
This Lumut Mangrove Swamp Park is also known as “Monkey Park” due to its large monkey population. Visitors are advised not to feed the animals. It will disrupt their diet as well as cause them to be aggressive towards humans.
Note: Our tour of Taman Paya Bakau Bandar, Lumut was facilitated by the Manjung Municipal Council and Councillor, Clr HW Ding, during International IPOH Fashion Week (IIFW): Season 5.0.
