A Light Yet Fulfilling Meal @ Trishaw Dessert Stall, Ipoh
I drop by Trishaw Dessert Stall (三轮车) regularly for brunch or tea but this is the first time I am featuring them on Emily2u.com
Serving a wide array of Chinese traditional snacks, kuih-muih, fried noodles, porridge, dessert soup (tong sui / 糖水) and other finger food, Trishaw Dessert Stall is still an undiscovered gem that is patronised mainly by residents in Pasir Putih and neighbouring communities.
Story has it that this business began as a “tricycle vendor” that made the rounds in the area. Business was good, as you can see, that they could afford to move into a shop.
That’s why they have kept their “trademark” in their new shop name, except that they mixed up tricycle with trishaw. The retired tricycle is now a piece of decoration.
The youngsters manning the stall and serving customers are probably from the second or third generation in the business. I did not find out.
By the way, although the menu of Trishaw Dessert Stall comprises mainly desserts and other light food, there are many customers who come by for lunch. Are they all on a diet? Or do they prefer to eat a little of everything to make up one whole meal?
If you can’t tell yet, Ipohites love eating, and this city is the best place to do it. After all, Ipoh was named the top destination for tasting local food in a survey conducted by Booking.com last year. 75,000 responses were collected from around the world, no joke! That century egg porridge reminds me of my late grandma’s cooking. And I also missing all those kuehs too
Menu nya macam menu orang melayu juga ye.
Suka la decoration yang basikal tu.
Comel.
My Mom is hard to impress with gourmet foods, and i bet she will be more happy to enjoy in these humble makan 🙂
Makan makes us all happy.
